New tru-spec® chain handcuffs police military security
Nickel plated steel handcuffs, manufactured in Korea in full compliance with US National Instutute of Justice standards for police handcuffs (NIJ 0307.01) and all military specifications.
These cuffs double lock similar to the Smith & Wesson. The tail of the key is inserted into a small slot on the face of the cuff and used to throw a small internal switch. Once double locked, the handcuffs will not tighten, limiting the possibility of injury to the prisoner, and making the cuffs more difficult to shim. Double locked cuffs are unlocked by rotating the key in one direction to release the double lock, and the other way to release the main lock. This is similar to the action of Peerless and S&W cuffs.
These are fully duty quality cuffs, with ditched bows, solidly anchored swivels, and welded steel chain. The pawl has three teeth, and is made from three steel stampings. The pawls operate semi-independantly of each other, making the cuffs slightly more difficult to pick than solid pawls. In addition, the three piece pawl is more resistant to breakage. Take the US Universal type handcuff key. I estimate their quality as comparable to Peerless cuffs.
