This is a great unit for craftspersons, wood workers, wood turners needing a quiet reliable vacuum source. If used in a dusty environment, you should add a 10 micron particulate intake filter and you should also add a vacuum gauge. Gast makes the 10 micron filter and they are available through local Gast distributors. For those individuals interested in vacuum chucking, I can supply a complete setup; (filter, vacuum gauge, bleeder valve and vacuum adapter for most lathes) Send email for details and more photos. I use one on a 14†lathe and it provides more holding power than I ever need and is very quiet.
This unit is still in the Gast catalog and sells for $350-450 from industrial suppliers. Motor is thermally protected and will restart automatically after the coils cool. It is rated for continuous duty.
