This is a new 4.5 inch stainless steel shrinking disc
It is made of 16 gage 304 stainless steel with a 90 degree saftey edge, it comes with a backing pad and nut for 4 1/2" electric grinders with a 5/8-11 thread, or it can be used without a backing pad on 4" air grinders, most have a nut that is around .860 the shrinking disc has a .875 recessed hole for mounting.
It is used to create heat by friction on steel and aluminum by contacting the spinning disc to the work surface then quickly cooling the surface, by misting water, or rubbing a damp rag, or by blowing compressed air over the area being worked.
