This manual covers the Tektronix 5L4N Low Frequency Spectrum Analyzer. It is scanned from the original manufacturer's "Interim" manual. In addition, you get an Application Note by Tektronix, which is extremely informative and well done, involving the use of the 5L4N for professional audio equipment testing and specification. You can read about the App Note here. Please note that in this 5L4N set you get the smaller, faster, "resource" PDF of the App Note, not the "very high resolution" or "reproduction grade" scan. However, the information is entirely readable, and you really only need the high resolution PDF of the Application Note if you want to print better looking pages.
"Interim" means the manual has general info & specifications, the schematics, the printed circuit board drawings, block diagram, interconnect chart, the electrical and mechanical parts lists, the operations section, the performance check and operational check sequences and instructions, and manual changes to 10-7-74. The interim manual specifically DOES NOT CONTAIN: calibration procedure, text circuit description, routine and corrective maintenance procedures, options, or mechanical parts info. However, this PDF set will be useful even to folks who already have or plan to acquire a complete "full" PDF manual (because of the presence of both A3 and A4 foldouts) or a paper copy of either the "interim" or "full" manuals (due to the text-searchability of the "resource resolution" copy).

Two PDFs of the 5L4N manual are provided, in two resolutions. One is:
Text with Drawings at 600dpi black and white
Schematics at 600dpi black and white
Text with photos at 600dpi grayscale with contrast adjusted
Any schematics, board overlays that have color notes at 600dpi 256 colors
Foldout pages are supplied as 8-1/2x11" pages within the "main" manual for ease of printing, and are also supplied in a separate "foldouts.pdf" document at 17x11" for they who prefer them. The pages can be printed as needed or the information taken directly from the computer screen. The pages are completely readable and are fine for technicians and engineers who need service and operations information. Manual collectors, though, should search elsewhere, as any notes by engineering and technical personnel are retained in this document.
The reproduction grade resolution looks nice, but for many purposes uses excessive resources. It's kind of like driving to work every day on a tractor. You can copy the large file to the hard drive in an attempt to achieve maximum performance, but it's certainly of no benefit to you to be required to do that. Therefore, while it's great to have the extremely high resolution PDF we provide for those times you need higher definition (such as printing), we include a second scan in standard resolutions for daily research and use on the bench.
The second scan is done in resolutions that vary depending on individual page content, but are never higher than needed to produce a useable quality, quickly navigable file that will do the job without consuming more time and resources than are needed.
On the CD you'll receive the large "very high resolution" file, plus the smaller, faster and often more useable text-searchable version. ALL original manual pages are supplied. Some vendors proudly and loudly advertise page counts and file sizes, but since those counts and sizes are very often artificially inflated with advertising, shareware beg screens and/or blank pages, we refrain from joining them and instead assure you that these manuals are complete and are scanned in the specified resolutions.
