You can build a pipe fence using two of these magnets. They will hold up a heavy pipe between two post, and will keep on holding them while you are making sure they are level and straight.
If you are building a trailer, these magnets will hold the angle iron or pipe at ninety degrees while you tack weld the pieces together.
Long before they came out with these magnets, I used to build a trailer every once in awhile.
I made my set up secure with "C" clamps and I am using the word secure very loosely, because before I would get it tacked, the phone would ring or I would have to leave to do something else for a couple of minutes.
I don't know how, but when I would come back to my set-up, something would be crooked.
I can secure two pieces of angle iron with these magnets, and the pieces will still be in line when I come back from the phone or whatever.
These magnets are an excellent third hand.

I was rolling my power plant thru the grass to the back yard the other day and the wheel fell off. The little "C" retainer that holds the wheel on had come loose and fallen into the grass. There was no way to see the little bitty part, but I got a magnet and quickly retrieved the part. The part may not have cost but 50 cents, but it would have meant a trip thru heavy traffic to the hardware store and back.
When this type magnet first came out, even the small 3 inchers were $15 to $20 each.
