This software package comes on a CDROM that includes versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader and Microsoft WORD for displaying the documentation (manual is included on the CDROM). BMP images files for each page of the manual are also included. This is a full (not just a demo) MSDOS product (will run in an MSDOS window with Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP, Vista).
FSGD iteratively designs fire sprinkler grid systems of all sizes. It automatically finds the most remote head and calculates hydraulically balanced water flow and pressure requirements for the entire system, back to the water source, using NFPA methods.
FSGD has fast, highly "intelligent" input screens that in most cases provide pre-calculated default values. It automatically supplies internal diameters and Hazen-Williams "C" factors for 17 types of pipes, and provides equivalent lengths for most types of fittings, in all sizes.
FSGD prints a report of calculations in the form recommended by NFPA Standard 13. It also prints out a system water flow versus pressure graph, showing the system demand curve, along with the water supply curve. The water source may be a street main or fire pump, together or separately. (Observe that a grid system is characterized by feeding water to both ends of all branch line. A tree system has water feed to one end of branch lines.
