Dumont 5SP7 CRT Cathode Ray Tube
Here's one for the collectors and students of cathode ray technology out there. This monster 5SP7 is truly a beauty. It has two guns, two sets of deflection plates and even two different post-deflection accelerator connections. I cannot tell if it is new or used, but it is in a U.S. Navy box with the date "51-L-21" on it.
This tube is described on page 103 - 104 and 107 of Peter Keller's definitive work THE CATHODE RAY TUBE - TECHNOLOGY, HISTORY AND APPLICATION. Manufactured by Dumont starting in 1945, it was available in P1, P2, P4, P7, and P11 phosphors. It was one of the first flat-faced crts produced, which brought in the era of modern precision measurements from a crt face. Keller calls the 5SP- "the first commercially successful multi-beam tube in the U.S."
